About the KCOS Art Auction

For 39 years, KCOS has hosted an annual Art Auction in support of public television serving El Paso, Las Cruces, and Ciudad Juarez.


The KCOS Art Auction hosts a juried art show awarding prizes in the following five categories and a Best in Show.

Local Flavor - a celebration of the best of the Paso del Norte region in all mediums

Figurative - a celebration of human form and representations of animals.

Still Life and Landscapes - still life and non-regional landscapes in all mediums.


Contemporary & Mixed media - abstract, non-objective works, three dimensional works in all media, including photography and functional art.

The 2019 Art Auction juried competition was judged by the El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. Winners and Juror Awards were:

Special collections (non-juried) also include original works and fine art prints from many early El Paso artists including Tom Lea, Jose Cisneros, Manuel Acosta, Rudy Montoya, Jan Herring, Earline Barnes, Frederick Carter, Fern Thurston, Bill Rakocy and many more.

The KCOS Art Auction gives local artists the opportunity to display their best work all while giving our viewers the chance to win and bid on their favorite piece(s). The event supports the arts and local artists while remaining an engaging experience for viewers and supporters who are able to participate in the broadcast from home. Over 120 pieces are available for bidding.  We encourage interested bidders to bid live via phone, but if you are unable to watch live and still want to bid you can contact KCOS to set up proxy bidding on your behalf.

This event is helps support El Paso’s PBS station and public television in our community.  For 40 years KCOS has been inspiring, informing and educating our viewers in the Paso del Norte region thanks to the generous support of our community.
